You don’t need work experience to do the gmat and it won’t help you answer the questions. However, you will find it helps (alot) to practice on old questions – they say practice won’t improve scores and that the test is thoroughly objective but anyone who’s done it will tell you that’s rubbish.
Depending on the business school you choose, you may need work experience to get in. You may also find the experience helpful to put what you’re learning on the course into context. Finally experience will also help when you come out the other end and are looking for jobs equipped with your sparkling new MBA.
So, in short, you don’t need experience to do the GMAT or to get into some business schools but you might find it useful to get some experience first before embarking on an MBA.
